You can fill your home with plants, but each room has a different environments. Your porch or conservatory will have different temperatures and humidity levels compared to your kitchen or bathroom.
There are plenty of ways to get creative with how to display your bathroom plants. Position them in hanging baskets or ceramic pots suspended from the ceiling. Alternatively, some of the plants like air plants can be tied together to create a unique hanging plant in a chandelier style.
There are options for bathrooms with or without windows, so whatever your set up, there’s a plant that can thrive in your space.
So, here are a few houseplants for your bathroom:
1. Monstera deliciosa (Swiss cheese plant)
Firstly, the iconic leaves of the Swiss cheese plant are a must-have, and they can thrive in a variety of different environments. Although they prefer bright, indirect light, they can tolerate low levels of light as well as any humidity level.
But, bear in mind that they’ll need a lot of space and will be sure to make a statement in your bathroom.
2. Air plants
These plants get their nutrients from the air as their name suggests, but they do still need watering by submerging them in water. Air plants thrive in high or moderate humidity, and they can be displayed in really imaginative ways to have a great impact.
They do need plenty of air though, so a bathroom with a window available for these plants to position near is perfect.
3. Dracaena sanderiana (lucky bamboo)
Low maintenance and looks marvellous, this pick with transform your bathroom to a spa-like environment. Lucky bamboo can survive without a lot of light, so it’s perfect for a bathroom spot which doesn’t get loads of sun.

4. Epipremnum aureum (golden pothos or devil’s ivy)
Next is another favourite which thrives in a humid environment, because if they don’t get the right levels of humidity then the ends of the leaves will turn brown.
They grow best in bright but indirect light, and variegated varieties can lose their different colours if they don’t get enough sunlight.

Alternatively, bring some dramatic colour to a corner in your bathroom with the purple and silver-striped leaves of Tradescantia zebrina. The trailing habit will help to add height and texture to the room.
Originating from Mexico and Central America, they are happy in temperatures from 10-24°C, so will be happy in your bathroom.

Mother-in-law’s tongue is a hardy and easy to care for plant that is great for beginners. It’s architectural appearance from its upright sword-like leaves can be found in sizes from 6 inches to 12ft tall, so you’re bound to find one to suit your bathroom.
It is also a good pick for the bathroom because they are not fussy about humidity levels and can even thrive in low or bright indirect light.

These make great bathroom plants and would look great in a clean, cut contemporary bathroom style because of their striking straight leaves. They like high humidity, so the bathroom is very fitting, although they do best with medium to bright indirect light.
