RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the world’s most prestigious horticultural event, showcases the creme de la creme of garden design. I’ve spent an approximate three quarters of a year of my life working on this particular garden, and it gives me great pride to see my design come to life.
165,000 people are expected to visit Chelsea and among those are some very special VIP’s. I was honoured to have several members of The Royal Family visit The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) Centenary Garden and privileged at the opportunity to discuss the garden’s journey and history.
HRH Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, spoke to the CWGC’s Director of Horticulture, David Richardson and I about the history of the garden.
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, spoke to David and I about the amazing work of the CWGC and what each section of the garden represents.
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie visited and they were both intrigued to find out a little more about the plants we had selected for the garden.
Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, spent some time talking to us about the work of the stone masons and carpenters that we visited in France and Belgium.
Please vote now for the CWGC Centenary Garden in the RHS Chelsea Flower Show People’s Choice Award in the Artisan category. It’s a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of this unique organisation and to celebrate its incredible work across the world.
